Serial number 153295A, manufactured in 1884. Standard 20-inch full round barrel and full length magazine tube. Barrel mounted front sight with carbine style fold down elevator rear sight graduated to 900 yards and marked "1873" at top of ladder. Barrel marked with two line Winchester address and patent dates. .44 caliber marking on barrel breech and bottom of brass elevator. Frame mounted saddle ring. Blue with case hardened lever and hammer. Plain straight grain walnut stock with steel carbine style buttplate and long forearm. CONDITION: Excellent overall with 80-85% thinning blue mixed with brown patina on receiver with majority of loss around top right, top tang, and front of receiver on both sides. Barrel retains approximately 95% original thinning blue mixed with patina. Magazine tube has been refinished with all reapplied blue remaining. Traces of case color on the buttplate, hammer and lever, mostly a dark brown patina. Wood is excellent showing moderate wear with one long scratch on buttstock left side and forearm bottom right side. Strong original blue remaining on barrel bands. Bore is excellent clean and bright. Action is crisp and tight. Overall a very handsome 1873 saddle ring carbine in the most desirable caliber. -MKS-
