Standard 25" barrel with pinched front sight. Lock is marked "C.S./ RICHMOND, VA" and dated 1863 at the tail. Barrel date is no longer visible due to pitting. Proper "T" slot for rear sight on barrel. "V/ P" eagle head proof is visible. Battlefield salvaged US marked iron buttplate. Swivel behind trigger guard tang screwed into wood. The swivel on the trigger guard is broken off. Correct Richmond bands and nose cap. The bore is completely shot out and now gauges at .62 caliber. CONDITION: This gun shows hard use with honest wear. There is a good amount of burn out behind the lock, and some old wood loss in front of the lock. Stock is worn through on the bottom in places between the trigger guard and rear band, exposing the ramrod. Chipping along ramrod channel. Some light dings and handling marks. Markings with the exception of the barrel date are clear. The hammer is loose. Will not always hold at full cock. This is a nice honest example of a well used Confederate Cavalry carbine. GR
