This is a fine example of a first year production Navy, early 2nd model with the wedge below the screw. This is the small brass, nickle plated squareback trigger guard. It features the small dovetail front sight. It bears all matching serial numbers including wedge and rammer. Total production of this early model is estimated at 2800 units. Frame has the Colt Patent stamp. and Colt barrel address. CONDITION: The naval scene on cylinder is 70% visible with some minor pitting. The top of the barrel also shows some light pitting. Metal is basically a clean soft patina with no original color or blue visible. Grips are excellent. Rifling is sharp and action is fine. DB
