Superb Smith & Wesson Model 2 Army in .32 rimfire with 6 inch octagon barrel, silver finish, and mother of pearl grips. Engraved in flowing scrolls and vines with bordered arrows on barrel flats and a patriotic world globe with American flag vignette on left side of frame. Engraved presentation on back strap, "O.F.WISNER CAPT, 22ND NYVG". Oscar F Wisner a 1843 Harvard Law Graduate, died in 1889, and was a published author late in life. Cased in ebony case with red crushed velvet lining. Cased with cleaning rod and empty cartridge box. CONDITION: Outstanding, uncleaned, and untouched condition. Bore is excellent with traces of minor corrosion at muzzle; most plated finish remains. Legends and engraving is crisp and excellent. Grips are outstanding with no chipping and a slight stain at heel. Action operates properly. Case is very fine with slight fading to interior. A wonderful identified Civil War Officers Smith & Wesson. The 22nd New York served in Virginia and Maryland and distinguished themselves at Antietam. TDW
