Serial number 143678, manufactured in 1858. Serial numbers match on all major components including the wedge and loading lever. 5-inch barrel marked two-line "ADDRESS SAM'L COLT / NEW YORK CITY". 5-shot cylinder with roll die stagecoach holdup scene. Frame marked on left side "COLTS PATENT". One piece varnished walnut grips. Blue with case hardened frame, hammer, and loading lever. Silver plated brass trigger guard and backstrap. Housed in a period walnut case fitted in the partition style. Includes powder flask, bullet mold, combination nipple wrench, and two each percussion cap tins. CONDITION: Very good overall with 10-15% original blue mixed with brown patina on barrel, with numerous dents and dings on right side around wedge. Cylinder mostly brown with a legible stagecoach hold up scene. Hammer, loading lever, and hammer mostly brown patina. Most original silver plate remaining on trigger guard and backstrap with scattered corrosion. Grips are excellent with most original varnish showing light wear. Case exterior is excellent with most original varnish. Burgundy color interior shows moderate to heavy wear with fading. Bullet mold mostly a grey/brown patina. Powder flask is a dark mustard patina with large dent on backside and seam split on one side. Overall a nice honest Model 1849 Pocket. -MKS-
