This is a fine example of scarce first year Navy shipped Colt Model 1911 pistol. Right side of slide is stamped Model of 1911 US Navy. Last patent date on right side of slide is 1911 and the Colt pony can be found in circle. The left side of the frame has the WGP inspector stamp of Walter Penfield (1911-14). Early features include wide spur hammer, long smooth trigger, checkered slide stop and safety. Flat mainspring housing with loop, type 1 rear sight with round edges and U notch with diamond checkered walnut stocks. Barrel is a non-correct replacement. Magazine is correct era so called "Key Hole" magazine with loop and temper line in near mint condition. Slide is stamped H under firing pin plate. CONDITION: Front strap is soft blue gray patina blend as is rear strap. The balance of frame retains approximately 80% original factory blue finish. The slide retains about 85% original blue thinning in spots but still bright. A very fine example of a scarce US Navy pistol. DB
