Brass barrels, octagonal at muzzle, engraved with urns and strapwork. Steel stocks crudely engraved in the Scottish manner. Plain locks engraved Nairn. Plain swan neck cocks. Plain frizzen. Pierced steel ball trigger. Pierced steel ball pricker en suite with trigger. Steel ramshorn butt crudely engraved with strapwork. Steel belt hook pierced and slashed. CONDITION: Barrels are excellent with only a few minor marks. Barrel pulling away from stock on one pistol, missing barrel key. One ramrod missing. Actions function. One pistol with split at breech. Bores are excellent as new. A most interesting pair of brass barreled ramshorn butt Scottish pistols. As stated, date of manufacture uncertain. PROVENANCE: Sotheby's London, Lot 459, June 1987. MZ
