Serial number 5781, manufactured in 1864. Octagon 24" barrel with integral magazine tube marked in two lines "HENRY PATENT.OCT.16.1860 / MANUFACTURED BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CT." with serial number 5781 at the breech. Sling swivels on barrel and buttstock. German silver blade front sight with square back front tapered to front. Adjustable leaf rear barrel sight with ladder graduated to 900 yards and number 900 stamped on top with retaining screw, slide has wide "V" notch. No dovetail on receiver for sight. Brass crescent rifle style buttplate with pointed heel. Brass receiver and buttplate, blue barrel and magazine tube, case hardened lever and hammer. Plain walnut stock. CONDITION: Very good overall. Grey/brown patina on barrel, magazine, lever, and trigger with light scattered corrosion. Some rounding of edges on receiver. Receiver and buttplate turning a pleasing medium mustard color patina. Stock is fine, lightly sanded with possible finish added. Bore is dark with scattered pitting. Overall an nice above average Henry. -MKS-
