Manufactured by Deutsche Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken Co. Contract sale to Portugal. The Portuguese R.P. navy contract was for 300 pistols, sn 351-650. See Sturgess (red edition) p.680. Features include round barrel with dovetailed inverted V front sight, V notch rear sight on rear link, thumb safety is unmarked, front toggle link marked "DWM" in script. Wide grip safety without a stock lug. Extractor is marked "CARREGADA". "R.P (with a) FOULED ANCHOR" over the chamber. CONDITION: Gun is an all matching numbers gun except the grip safety. It is number 28. The left grip is number 92. Full checkered grips that show a lot of wear and are almost smooth. Eight round magazine is a nickeled tin body that has been blued with a unnumbered wood bottom. Good bore showing a little frosting. Gun retains approximately 50% of the factory applied blue finish. Straw is about 5%. Remainder turning to an even brown patina. Gun shows some slight pitting under the grips and some handling marks. As rare as this gun is, it comes in an even harder to find original Portuguese Navy holster with shoulder straps. Leather shows crazing. Stitching is tight and serviceable. It has a take down tool compartment and a cleaning rod compartment but no tools. An extremely hard gun to find and would be a great addition to any Luger collection. RW
