First model Henry Rifle serial number 2075 manufactured in 1863. 24" octagon barrel with integral magazine tube, marked two line "HENRY'S PATENT, OCT.16,1860./MANUFACTURED BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS. CO. NEW HAVEN. CT." Serial number 2075 at breech. Brass receiver & butttplate, case hardened lever, hammer, blue barrel, and magazine. Lever with "spur" and tang mounted latch. Walnut stock with early rounded heel buttplate. Later style German silver front sight with square back front tapered forward. Rear adjustable folding leaf sight with sliding bar graduated to 900 yards, has "900" stamped on top of folding leaf. Rear sight is mounted on receiver. Letter "H" stamped on lower tang. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Retains 40-50% original blue mixed with brown patina on the barrel, giving an appearance of full coverage. Very clean barrel with light areas of slight oxidation. Frame and buttplate are very sharp and clean with a much desirable dark mustard color patina, looks untouched with only a few light dents. Walnut stock is very fine as refinished, showing little wear with a nice raised grain. Matching serial number 2075 stamped on inside of stock top tang slot and and also stamped inside on right side lower tang. Matching serial number 2075 stamped on inside of buttplate. Correct pattern and unmolested screws are numbered to a different rifle, with replaced screw on top of buttplate. Bore is excellent showing moderate firing. Overall an outstanding high condition first model Henry rifle that would be difficult to improve upon. -MKS-
