A collectors prize, this .38-40 caliber carbine is standard in all respects. Round barrel, full magazine, blue finish, post front sight, ladder rear sight, gumwood stocks, saddle ring and stud. This is a late gun and the PW stamp is found in front of sight and on frame. CONDITION: The hammer and lever retain generous amounts of case color. The barrel and tube retain 95% original blue with some patina showing through and some light freckling on left side of barrel. Bands retains 90% original blue. Right side of frame has some brown patina having simply turned from age mixed with 60% bright factory mirror blue while left side of frame retains 90% of this mirror factory blue. The buttstock has some large marks on left side and fewer on right side. This carbine has a mirror bore and fine action. Definitely one of the better ones. Factory letter confirms as .38 carbine shipped to Simmons Hardware in St. Louis on August 6, 1907. DB
