Classic Winchester Model 1892 rifle with 24" full octagon barrel, full magazine, varnished American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Fitted with Beech pattern folding sporting sight, elevator adjustable rear sight, and Lyman folding tang sight. Manufactured in 1903 during the high point of quality for the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and finished in deep blue with nitre blue appointments and case colored lever, hammer, and buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine with well over 95% factory blue finish remaining on barrel and magazine with losses at crowns of flats and leading edges of muzzle. Highly polished blue finished receiver retains over 90% bright blue with slight fading at belly and age striations on sides (common for this era). Hammer, lever, and butt plate case colors are visible but fading from age. Varnished walnut stocks are exceptional and show little sign of actual use. Most all varnish remains with several very minor compressions and bruises from period use. Bore is excellent, bright and shiny with sharp lands and grooves. Action operates properly and locks up crisply. TDW
