Manufactured in 1896. Elegant Winchester Model 1886 Sporting rifle with special order 26" half round half octagon tapered barrel with nickel bladed sporting front sight and ladder adjustable 1886 rear sight and half magazine. Traditional two line Winchester barrel address and chambered for the desirable .45-70 Government cartridge. Case colored receiver, hammer, lever, buttplate, and forend cap. Highly figured varnished American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very good with well over 90% factory blue finish remaining on barrel area of loss turning plum on right side. Magazine is equally fine but cap has turned silver. Case colored receiver retains over 50% vivid colors with 20% fading and balance turning silver. Hammer, lever, and butt plate have even colors that are fading. Varnished American walnut stocks are very fine with most all varnish remaining with traces of wear at toe, wrist, and rear forearm with several minor scrapes and blemishes from use. Bore is exceptionally fine with razor sharp lands and grooves. Action operates properly and locks up crisply. TDW
