Standard 30" full round barrel marked "New Model 1863" at breech. R.S Lawrence ladder rear sight, blade front sight. Originally chambered in .52 caliber percussion, re-lined to .50-70 Government. Correct inspection cartouches on stock and sub-inspector stamps on metal parts with correct DFC cartouche in ribbon designating David F. Clark inspection of conversion at the Sharps factory. CONDITION: Very fine overall with strong traces of case color on frame, patch box, and buttplate. Barrel shows 30-40% blue with balance turning a pleasing blue/grey patina. Stock and three band forearm are excellent showing minimum wear. Bore is excellent with minimum pitting. Includes original Civil War era sling (probably Bannerman surplus). Most post-War converted Sharps guns were carbines, estimated at 31,098 total and only 1,086 three band rifles of all types, Models 1859, 1863, and 1865 were converted under the Government. A most interesting and rarely encountered Sharps. MKS
