The forerunner to the famous Model 1894, this is a deluxe model that features a short 22" full octagon barrel, half magazine, sporting sights, blue finish, rifle butt, with deluxe pistol grip checkered walnut stocks with period sling swivels and leather sling. This was Marlin's first solid top lever action rifle that was made from 1889-1899. CONDITION: The barrel and tube retain approximately 85% original factory blue with some high edge and muzzle wear, sharp edges and legends. The frame retains about 40% original high polish factory blue that has mixed with rich soft patina. Wood shows deluxe grain, is proud to metal, with just usual handling marks. Nice color remains on hammer and lever. Well defined rifling with minor abrasion. Handsome and scarce deluxe 1889. The factory letter states that rifle left factory with a 26" barrel so either cut or factory recording error but does confirm caliber and pistol grip stock. DB
