(1992) This closely matched brace of guns in different gauges have 28" chopper lump barrels engraved "ARMI F.lle RIZZINI MAGNO V.T." on narrow game ribs. Barrel flats are stamped with 1992 Italian nitro proofs for 3" chambers for 20 gauge, and 2 - 3/4" for 28 gauge. Coin finished R1 sidelock actions feature automatic safeties (S inlaid in gold), and single non-selective triggers. Actions and lockplates are engraved with an intricate array of open shaded scrolls interspersed with floral spikes and individual blossoms in a virtual carpet covering all metal surfaces. Execution of this work is of the highest order, and engravers signature, "G. Contessa", the well respected Giorgia, is on trigger plate. These scroll elements extend to trigger guard bow which is also gold inlaid "M C" (?) in script. Closely matched (28 bore gun wood is a bit darker, and more intricately marbled) well marbled and lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 14 - 3/4" for 20 gauge and 14 - 5/8" for the 28 gauge over checkered wood butts. Well cut point pattern checkering with mullered borders is at grips. Matching semi-beavertail ejector forends have Anson releases. Guns are housed in brown leather motor case with stitched leather corners which is lined in olive green felt. CONDITION: Excellent, with evidence of limited field use. The 28 bore gun shows more use. Both guns have faint firing halos on breech faces, and a scattering of handling and assembly marks on wood and metal surfaces, most notably light scratches on right side of butt of 20 gauge gun, and 10 to 15 deeper pings mostly on left side of butt of 28 gauge gun. Both are mechanically excellent, with strong ejectors, and triggers appear to work well. Bores are also excellent, but a bit dirty. Case leather shows some scuffs and marks. Straps and handle are good. Interior is very fine. Fratelli Rizzini make some of the most highly regarded guns in the world today, and prices start at over 90,000 euros with an extra 6500 for a 28 gauge. Engraving is individually quoted. MGM50.
