Standard World War I configuration with high hump hand guard. Two bolt, wide finger groove stock. Hard to read JSA cartouche with date underneath it on left side of stock, along with DAL cartouche to the right of it. Circle P proof double stamped behind trigger guard. 10-18 dated Springfield barrel. Checkered steel buttplate. Bolt is “J” marked on the bottom of the safety lug, and appears to have a poorly stamped “5” after that which puts it at the correct period and serial number range for a 1918 gun. Straight bolt handle. Accompanied by a Kerr No-Buckl sling and a much later production front sight cover. CONDITION: Metal has a mottled appearance with a pleasing patina and what appears to be touch up to the finish. Bolt body is in better condition than receiver. Markings are clear. Wood has dings and handling marks, showing wear. Hand guard is in better condition than stock. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function. GR
