Extremely rare Commercial Birmingham Small Arms "BSA" No III dated 1940 and chambered for the standard .303 British cartridge. Retailer marked on the front receiver ring "PARKER-HALE BIRMINGHAM 4". The uncommon heavy barrel is marked on the top of the barrel "BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS LTD HEAVY 303 TARGET BARREL". The bright muzzle is marked "A.G.P BALL BURNISHED". Front sight blade is a tapered target blade marked Parker Hale and is fitted with a sheet metal front sight protector retailer marked by Parker Hale. Rifle is fitted with a receiver mounted Parker Hale marked micrometer adjustable target peep sight with adjustable rear diopter. Commercial wood stocks are void of any government or military acceptance markings. Rifle is further equipped with shooting sling swivel mounted in front of magazine well assembly. Commercial Enfield rifles are uncommon and most were pushed into service during World War II. This example is a survivor and remains in original commercial configuration. Bolt and receiver numbers are matching. CONDITION: Very fine as most metal retains most all commercial finish with slight finish loss at muzzle from cleaning as well as typical high point finish loss from transport and use. The bore is excellent, bright and shiny, with sharp lands and grooves. The four piece wood set is very good and shows some evidence of period cleaning. The action operates properly and smoothly. TDW
