The forerunner to the commonly encountered Japanese Type 14 Nambu pistol is known as the "Papa". They were made for both the Army and Navy. This is an Army model gun. Standard configuration with tangent rear sight, grip safety, unique cocking knob, and checkered magazine bottom. There are other significant differences as well. Marked "GTE" on top of the slide for "Tokyo Gas & Electric" inside a circle. Accompanied by a proper brown leather holster with original shoulder strap. The holster shows an earlier, almost commercial, type quality to it with a cartridge flap that differs from standard later production Nambu holsters. CONDITION: Retains 85% finish overall with some areas of minor pitting. Markings are clear. Matching numbers on frame, bolt, and cocking knob. Other numbers not checked. Magazine is not matching. Wood grips are good with some wear to checkering. 3 Japanese characters painted on the right grip. Bore is good with sharp rifling. Good mechanical function. Holster has some scuff marks with strong stitching, as does the shoulder strap. GR
