The nearly 17" long steel barrels with raised rib inlaid with silver in imitation of Arabic calligraphy. Moulded breeches with poincon with crown over "CO/NA". The breech is further embellished with silver inlaid scrolls and gold colored pellets. The stepped bolted locks engraved with foliage. Bridled frizzens. Iron pans. Swan neck cocks engraved en suite. Brass mounts in the Dutch style. Solid sideplates with three piercings engraved with scrolls and foliage. Trigger guard with urn finial and sparse engraving. Heavy spurred butt caps, cast and chased in relief with florals and grotesque mask buttcap. Thumbpiece with decoration en suite with butt. Moulded, figured walnut full stocks with relief carving behind tang and rear ramrod pipe. CONDITION: Barrels is smooth grey metal with some minor spotting. Locks mostly smooth grey metal with some minor pitting. Frizzens in similar condition. Swan neck cock in good condition; top jaw and screw probably replaced long ago. Stocks appears to have some old possibly original varnish and no significant defects throughout other than minor marks. Carving is crisp. Ramrods are replacements. Otherwise small parts original. Roller bearing frizzens work correctly. Both guns have both full and half cock. Bores are fair and will clean better. These pistols are over 2 feet long and must have been special ordered for a very large European gentleman. A most impressive addition to a collection of European flintlock pistols. MZ
