Complete with a Cody factory letter. Manufactured 1874 and shipped on April 18th of that year. 24" round barrel with nickel silver bladed front sporting sight and proper First Model Winchester 1873 elevator adjustable rear sight with checkered sides. Traditional Winchester two line address. Raised thumb print First Nodel dust cover. Two piece oil finished American walnut stocks with crescent butt plate equipped with trap for cleaning rod. The First Model 1873 Winchester has one of the lowest survival rates of all the Winchester line. This four digit serial numbered example is a true survivor. These rifles saw hard use and spent most of their lives outside and unprotected from the elements. CONDITION: Good as found and authentic. The exterior has a very pleasant chocolate patina that is very even with age. The bore has strong rifling with darkness in the lands and grooves. The action functions properly. The wood is good with typical minor dents and bruises however no cracks or material loss is evident. The hammer screw has been period staked to avoid loss and is rather fouled from period use. Butt trap houses a proper four piece Winchester cleaning rod. Truly an honest untouched Winchester. TDW
