Made in 1958, this gun is an example of how art truly transcends just canvas and paper. The gun is a 12 gauge with 2 - 3/4" chamber, vent rib barrel Model 12, with full choke marking. The barrel has a custom large forend that is checkered in ribband and spade pattern and the magazine tube shows floral scroll and a large gold goose surrounded by gold line work which extends around the barrel housing. Receiver is beautifully engraved in near full coverage with a small signature "Obiltschnig Ferlach Austria" found on top of the ejection port. Right side shows three large rabbits in field scene surrounded by gold line work and floral scroll coverage. Left side of receiver shows Pointer flushing three quail in gold and gold line work and full coverage floral scroll. Carrier is nicely polished, trigger is gold plated as is opener. Custom buttstock is of very high quality French Walnut, has cheek piece on left side, and has beautiful ribbands and spades running through grip area along with a beautifully executed dished channel which runs behind grip cap. Grip cap itself is a work of art with blued finish background, large leaping rabbit in gold and gold line work. Buttstock has a small Monte Carlo and terminates with a black Pachmayr white lined pad. Housed in a gorgeous Huey oak and leather case by Marvin Huey #284 with royal blue velvet interior. CONDITION: Extremely fine and retains nearly all finish to both wood and metal since being customized. There are only the most minute of handling marks visible. Mechanics are fine. Bore is bright and shiny. Case is excellent with rubs. The superb quality of the engraving work on this gun will bring tears to the eyes of any "gun nut!" JSL
