This is a very early cast-iron check protector manufactured by the Defiance Machine Company of Rochester NY. Patent applied 1899 and issued 1907. Weighing 30 lbs. in original copper flash finish and appearing to operate, this early office machine is an amazing survivor. Some areas of oxidation to the cast feet, otherwise a fantastic aged look.
