Ca. 1912, 26" chopper lump non-ejector barrels are fitted with file cut quarter rib with one standing (100 yards) and two folding (200 and 300 yards) leaf express rear sights. Matching front ramp with silver bead and flip-up porcelain night bead. Tops of barrels are engraved "E. M. Reilly & Co" "295 Oxford St London." Barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 75 grains of cordite and 480 grain bullet. Bottoms of steel barrels are stamped "GUSSSTAHL KRUPP ESSEN" with serial numbers. Actual manufacturers number "1315" is on bottom rib along with soldered sling eye. Arched back boxlock Webley screw grip top lever action features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), pivoting third fastener (screw grip), double triggers and disk set strikers. Action is engraved with near full coverage and very nicely cut large open shaded scroll. "E. M. REILLY & CO" over "London" is arched in ribbon on both sides. Blued top lever, floorplate and trigger guard with matched scroll engraving. Serial number is on trigger guard tang which extends to an engraved steel pistol grip cap. Lightly marbled and figured European walnut buttstock measures 14 - 7/8" over older Silvers type pad. Stock features drop points, point pattern checkering and a sling eye matching that of barrels, along with a silver oval engraved "O. H. A" on the toe line. Matching splinter forend has an Anson push button release. CONDITION: Very good, as refinished. Barrels retain nearly all of a satin rust re-blue, lettering considerably softened. Action cleaned to coin finish. Blued parts retain nearly all of their re-blue. Stock has old oil refinish and checkering has been cleaned up. A 2" x 3/4" piece of wood as been inlet into the toe of the stock to repair a large chip. Bores are excellent, with sharp shiny rifling throughout. Action is tight. Barrels are on face. Rifle is accompanied by three boxes of old Kynoch soft points, a box of new Kynoch containing four soft nosed cartridges, and three plastic boxes of various factory and reloaded cartridges. The .465 has earned an enviable reputation as a dangerous game caliber. Rifle is nicely balanced and mechanically sound.
