Barrel dated 12-43. Inland Division of General Motors M1 Carbine. Extremely fine early example with virtually all of the original factory finishes with Type 1 barrel band marked "UI". Receiver marked "INLAND DIV. 3176351" with "SG" marked at left lower side of frame. Flip rear sight marked "S" with no stake marks at dovetail. Blue finished flat bolt marked "IO" on left bolt guide. Operating assembly marked "IO" inside. Trigger assembly marked "INLAND" on right rear, hammer marked "IH" as is disconnector and trigger. Unmarked push safety with unmarked smooth magazine release. Two rivet walnut handguard is marked "IO" on internal flat. Walnut high wood buttstock is circle "P" proofed at pistol grip with ordnance wheel inspection on right side of butt and "IO" in sling slot recess. Mounted with a proper unmarked World War II Khaki web sling and oiler is marked "IS". CONDITION: Exceptionally fine and appears unused. Small handling marks in wood from storage. Bore is pristine with sharp rifling. Action operates properly. Phosphate finish is nearly new with a trace of finish loss at very edges of sights and muzzle from handling. Wood stocks are equally fine. Flat base World War II issued magazine is in near new condition and is marked "BW" on rear spine. This is an exceptional example and would be difficult to ever improve upon. TDW
