This is a New England Small Arms manufactured Model 1918A2 B.A.R. with U.S. Arsenal Flaming bomb proofs on barrel and crossed cannon proofs on receiver. Double stamped (very unusual) NE (New England) and 9-43 date on top of barrel. This weapon has an original bipod, carrying handle, smooth wooden forend, and hard composite buttstock. Third style (easiest to use) gas port regulator. It includes eight original 20 round magazines in an original World War II (1942 marked) waist belt. Various parts are marked “NE” for New England Arms. Top of receiver has typical New England Small Arms manufacturer’s markings with added “BOL” initials just below crossed cannon proof. Tiny barely legible “American” importer mark on left side of receiver near buttstock. The BAR was an important component of portable firepower within the American infantry squad during World War II and was highly effective when engaging the enemy. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine grey-green smooth dull arsenal refinish thinning to a gray patina with a little bit of pitting on the charging handle. Action is smooth when operated by hand. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is extremely fine, shiny & bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Stock has some light handling marks and added blue, white and mustard colored paint at the knob of the pistol grip. Magazine finish is consistent with the rest of the weapon. The Browning automatic rifle is one of the most popular machine guns out on the range, and one will no doubt bring a lot of enjoyment to the new owner. A fine World War II collectible firearm for the FFL/SOT holding machine gun enthusiast. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL.
