Attractive and fine smooth lustrous blue Harrington & Richardson Reising Model 50 machine gun with 13 - 3/4" barrel with compensator. Parkerized finish 12 round magazine included as well as vintage light brown leather sling. This Reising is one of a number of guns which found their way into Law Enforcement use. Although Reising machine guns were fielded in limited numbers to the Marine corps during World War II, many police departments brought these into their inventories both during and after World War II. This particular specimen was at one time in the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, and is stenciled, “SHERIFF’S DEPT” above “7” in white letters on left side of buttstock, and cleanly stamped on left side of receiver, “DALLAS CO . SHERIFF DEPT 7”. This indicates the 7th such weapon they had at the time. These guns were originally fielded with 12 round magazines as included here as a requested ammunition cost saving measure, the early guns had corrugated magazines wells which would accept only the corrugated 12 round magazines. Inevitably, greater magazine capacity was desired and “smooth” mag housings, as this gun has were manufactured along with higher capacity magazines. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original smooth lustrous blue finish with crisp lettering on metal parts. Some small areas of graying patina starting to appear. Wood is fine with numerous light handling marks and a little loss of finish in places. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine. This is a select-fire machine gun. A very nice and attractive Reising to take to the range and have fun with. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2020-05-004
