An amazing piece of early carnival memorabilia from the H. C. Evans Co. of Chicago. Dating to the 1920’s, this shooting gallery was mounted to a trailer and most likely was used in a traveling carnival. According to research, this was a Gallery “D”, 8’ high by 10’ wide, where the purchaser could customize the targets to the gallery to be outfitted to the moving apparatus which was standard to the Gallery “D”. This survivor has 111 cast-iron targets attached, there is one duck missing on the rotating center bulls eye target with an original replacement included. From the bottom up, there are 2 eagles with clangers, 7 bullseyes with clangers, 12 knock over flowers, 17 ducks on moving chain, a second row of 18 ducks, 14 birds, 10 swivel stands, a center rotating bullseye with ducks, 14 swivel pipes and 18 stars and pipes at the top. Along with the original chain link automation and the original motor. The gallery is untested, but retains all components to be operational. All the targets are in original park paint with varying amounts of paint loss and oxidation per target. Mounted on a trailer which extends the height to 10’, and making it much easier to move, though transport on the trailer is not recommended. A centerpiece to any carnival, circus, or sideshow collection.
