German WWII Luftwaffe M40 single decal helmet marked "hkp64" for the maker "Sashsische Emailler", in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "806". Shell has been postwar covered in a heavy coat of shellac with approximately 90% of it remaining. While it is unknown if that finish can be removed, it does appear that a very high percentage of it original rough blue-gray finish remains underneath. Interior retains 90+% of its untouched smooth blue-gray finish. The Luftwaffe decal is 90+% intact, but under the shellac coating. The entire liner assembly with a zinc band appears to have been replaced, and one of the helmet three rivets is missing; missing before the helmet was coated in shellac. Size "53" marked tan leather liner is intact with moderate wear and fraying on the rim. Drawstring is present, and a maker marked (date is illegible) original chinstrap with steel fittings with moderate wear and almost broken through six inches from the tip, is also attached. CONDITION: Very good. WZ

Item Dimensions: 12" x 10" x 7".
