(A) US Model 1860 Cavalry Saber, marked on the ricasso "N.J. / D.R. / U.S. / 1864" and "Ames Mfg Co Chicopee" on the reverse. CONDITION: Blade is bright with a few minor edge nicks, very good grip with tight wire and leather wrap. Steel scabbard mostly smooth and dark with areas of minor surface roughness. (B) US Model 1860 Cavalry Saber, marked on the ricasso " US / 1865 / AGM" and "C. Roby W Chelmsford Mass" on the reverse. Incorrect model 1904 scabbard. CONDITION: Sharpened blade is mostly grey with areas of minor dark staining, grip wire and leather wrap in very good condition, brass guard slightly misshapen. Steel scabbard is mostly dark with areas of light pitting. (C) Imported Model 1840 Cavalry Saber with scabbard throat mount frozen to the ricasso. CONDITION: Blade with a dark / grey surface mixed with light pitting, grip wire and leather wrap intact but showing wear. Steel scabbard with a smooth and dark surface. (D) US Model 1860 Officer's Cavalry Saber, etched near the ricasso "W. H. Horstmann & Sons Philadelphia", rayskin grip, guard with foliate pattern cast fittings. CONDITION: Heavily sharpened blade is dark grey with fairly clear etching. Rayskin grip is intact and tight but missing wire. Loose guard with dark patina. Steel scabbard with a dark surface and exhibiting some surface roughness. DG
