German WWII Waffen SS M42 single decal combat helmet marked "EF64" (inside the rear skirt) for the maker "Emaillerwerke A.G.", in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "14". Shell retains 60-65% of its original untouched rough gray-green paint, with patina and some freckling, especially on the top. There are three half inch round dents and two one inch long dents on the top right, as well as a half inch bend on the lower right rim. Interior retains approximately 80% of its untouched rough gray-green finish with patina, freckling, and dirt. The SS decal, which is a "Pocher", is in approximately 60% condition, with patina, wear, and aging, as well as traces of the original era applied lacquer. The liner assembly is likely to have been replaced. The patina/freckling on the inside helmet pin tabs exhibit more freckling than the zinc liner band, and are also loose. The liner is named in era ink "Obgefr. Peterseil", which is for an "Obergefreiter", a rank designation not used in the Waffen SS. Tan leather liner has fraying and wear, with a tongue damaged by mice. Drawstring is present and the size stamp is illegible. Original chinstrap with steel fittings is present, with light wear, and is maker marked and dated "1940". CONDITION: Overall very good+. WZ

CORRECTION: This helmet is originally a single decal Army helmet with what appears to be the original liner. The Army decal was removed and an SS decal was applied to the helmet some time post-war. Estimate changed.
