German WWII Heer M40 three-color rough textured camouflage helmet marked "ET64" for the maker "Eisenhuttenwerke Thale", in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "761". Shell retains 90-95% of its era applied untouched three-color sprayed camouflage. It appears the helmet was first sprayed a medium green, then some darker green lines, and then tan. The rough texture appears to consist of sand being applied to the wet paint. A couple of postwar brown drips are present on the left front, and there are areas of freckling which have come through the camouflage, especially to the right side; this represents about 10-15% of the camouflage application. Interior retains approximately 85% of its untouched smooth gray-green finish with freckling. Written on the inside rear skirt, with a black sharpie, is "Jim Delahunt, Germany 1945, U.S. Army"; certainly done long ago as there is patina over parts of the letters. Original zinc liner band is present and is untouched. Liner is complete, untouched, in a nice light to medium tan color, with some dark spots and light fraying to its rim. Original drawstring is present. Original chinstrap with freckled gray painted steel fittings and maker marked and dated "1940" appears to be original to the helmet with moderate wear. A very desirable untouched and complete M40 combat camouflage helmet. CONDITION: Overall very good+ to excellent. WZ
