Manufactured by Spandau in 1887. The receiver is marked "I. G. Mod. 71/84" on the left with the year of manufacture "1887" and an "RC" (Revision Commission) proof on the right hand side. The barrel is marked "Spandau" over the chamber with an "F.W." (For Kaiser Wilhem) proof on the left with Spandau arsenal proofs on the right. Buttplate is regimentally marked "K.A.R./ E.4.72". All numbers matching. Receiver, bolt, buttplate, and magazine cap & stacking rod are in the white. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their arsenal applied blue finish, showing some patina through areas of wear and thinning. Bore is bright and retains strong rifling throughout. Stock shows some marks from storage and handling, but retains clear arsenal stamps. A nice, high condition example of Germany's first repeating rifle. MLW
