Manufactured by Spandau in 1888. The receiver is marked "I. G. Mod. 71/84" on the left with the year of manufacture on the rear right. The barrel is marked "Spandau" over the chamber with an "F.W." (For Kaiser Wilhem) proof on the left and Spandau arsenal proofs on the right. Matching numbers include the receiver, bolt, barrel, rear sight, barrel bands, trigger guard, and magazine cap & stacking rod. Receiver, bolt, buttplate, magazine cap, and stacking rod are in the white. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their arsenal applied blue finish, with areas of wear and some speckling on the barrel present, showing through to silvering. Buttplate has been partially sanded at one point, likely to remove an area of rust and corrosion. Bore is bright with good rifling throughout. Stock shows some nicks and indentations from handling and use. A nice example of Germany's first repeating rifle. MLW
