Circa 1980. The nicely blued mono-bloc 23 - 1/2" double barreled side by side rifle has ejectors, matted quarter rib, express sights and a raised island base brass bladed front sight. Rib reads "CARABINE DOUBLE EXPRESS CHAPUIS FRANCE". At the bottom of the barrels rib there's a screw that might have been from an earlier rifle sling attachement which is approximately 7 - 5/8" back from the muzzle. Barrel flats indicate serial number, caliber, and the French proof house name (location) St. Etienne. Deep brown smoky 14 - 1/2" European walnut stock with point pattern checkered pistol hand grip, right hand palm swell, cheekpiece, and checkered butt. Matching game forend with Deeley style release. Blued 7 pin sidelock action with disc set strikers, border scroll, gold wire inlay around lockplates and fences with floral gold wire inlay at bottom of action. Action is nicely built with double triggers, top lever with golden Stag inlay, and a non-auto safe "S" in gold. The blued trigger guard with border scroll extends to a bottom tang. Rifle comes with a leather maker's takedown case. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. Barrels retain 95% blue. Bores are clean and rifling looks good. Stock and forend with minor handling marks. Action is tight, sound and triggers are crisp. There's a slight rub mark on the top tang. Leather case is good although has some handling/storage marks. Sound rifle. CP
