German WWII Heer M40 two-color sprayed camouflage helmet marked "EF64" for the maker "Emaillerwerke A.G. Fulda", in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "1360". Shell retains 80-85% of its era applied untouched two-color sprayed camouflage. It appears the helmet was first sprayed with ordnance tan and then some light green stripes were applied, from front to rear. Helmet was likely laid on the ground with other helmets and sprayed from front to rear, with the heaviest areas of camo paint on the front, top, side skirts, and rear skirt. The sides and rear, but especially the right side, has a lighter camo spray. Postwar brown stains are present. The initials "Wa" are scratched through the camo paint on top, and this may represent the first two letters of the German soldier's name. A Heer decal is visible under the camouflage, and approximately 20% of it is damaged as the wear goes through the camo and the decal, thereby revealing the base helmet paint. Interior retains approximately 90% of its untouched smooth gray-green finish, with dust and freckling. Written on the inside rear skirt above the lot number in pencil is "P. Walther", likely the name of the German soldier. Original zinc liner band is present and is untouched. Liner is complete, untouched, in a medium brown color, with moderate dryness and flaking around its rim. Original drawstring is present with a liner size "56" stamping. Original chinstrap, with both an aluminum and steel button, and freckled gray painted steel buckle, is maker marked "grg" and dated "1943". Chinstrap appears to be original to the helmet with moderate wear and crazing. A very desirable untouched and complete M40 combat camouflage helmet. CONDITION: Overall very good+ to excellent. WZ
