This is simply a magnificent example of early vending. With perched eagle on the domed roof, copper cast cherubs on all 4 corners, detailed castings and a wonderful patina, this penny postcard and stamp vending machine has it all. Pictured in the 1893 Colombian Exposition makes this a very early machine, and the condition after 130 years transcends words. This example comes with a small selection of post cards, and works as it was designed. There are only 4 of these machines known and one sits in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC. Working and with keys. Reference: "Silent Salesman Too" by Bill Enes, page 273.
