Very nice Auto Ordinance Bridgeport M1 Thompson with Savage manufactured upper, and lower numbered 172146 with white textile “3-11” on bottom of trigger guard. Includes 1 30 round Seymore magazine and 1 20 round Crosby magazine included with this lot. Gun has typical right and left receiver markings with fixed peep sight, smooth un-finned barrel, and non-detachable buttstock. Rear sling swivel has been relocated from its original position at the bottom of the buttstock to the top of the buttstock. Many soldiers preferred having the sling attachment configured this way during World War II. The M1 model Thompson machine gun was produced for only a short time before the less costly and less time consuming transition to the M1A1 with a fixed firing pin bolt. “GEG” and “RLB” inspector proofs still visible on left side of receiver with typical manufacturer’s address markings. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine grey green arsenal refinish with very little scattered brown patina on upper receiver. Lettering is clear. Wood is extremely fine, lightly sanded with the bottom sling swivel hole expertly fitted with a wooden patch, and otherwise with some light handling marks to the wood furnishings. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is shiny and bright with some light frosting towards the muzzle. Bolt face near excellent. Great opportunity for the dedicated Thompson collector. A scarce model to find in any condition, and this specimen presents very nicely. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2020-11-028
