Many high condition Thompson machine guns have passed through this cataloger’s hands over the years. The condition of this gun both in excellent bore and outstanding original finish place it within the top three of all of them. Certainly among the very best of all original Thompson machine guns on the collector’s market. Outstanding specimen of a Colt 1921 Thompson with unmarked Cutts compensator and original 1921 internal parts and correct anchor cartouched buttstock. Typical markings on receiver with visible serial numbers matching. “JHB” inspection mark very clear on right side of receiver with crisp clear lettering and sharp edges throughout. One matte finish original “New York, NY” 50 round drum is included as well as 4 original early 1920 patent date 20 round magazines in an original blue lined hard case. This gun in this configuration is THE most iconic and recognized profiles of an American icon. The Thompson machine guns are recognized symbols of the 1920's prohibition era as well as later and into World War II. Natrona County Sheriffs Dept, Casper, WY originally purchased gun. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent deep lustrous blue original finish with some slight loss of finish where the stock slides onto the receiver, and at the high edges of the buttplate. Wood is exceptional, slightly proud of the butt plate with a rich brown original finish and very light handling marks. Drum has extremely fine dull matte finish with slight wear to gray patina at high contact points. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt is near excellent. This is a select fire machine gun. Among the best condition of all 1921AC models on the collector market. A rare opportunity for the advanced Thompson collector.
