Colt Medium Frame Lightning slide action rifle. Made 1896. Barrel marked "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG.CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED MAY 29 SEPT 18 83 MAY 28 85 JUNE 15 86 FEB 22 97". Rampant Colt pony on the left side of the frame. Octagon barrel with standard rear sight. Front sight blade is missing. Original finish has worn to a nice patina in most areas. Oil finish wood stocks with crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish forming a nice patina in most areas. Wood is very good with light handling marks and scratches. Bore is lightly frosted, but retains crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
