Excellent example of a WW1 M1917 helmet as issued to "Doughboys" and Marines in France. This helmet exhibits a hand painted period original green square background with Indian head representing the supply company of the 5th Marine Regiment that was attached to the Army's 2nd Division. Enlisted bronze P1914 eagle, globe, and anchor device is attached through a punched hole. Helmet retains oilcloth liner and russet leather chinstrap. The supply company was one of the smallest units in the regiment and these helmets are exceedingly rare to find in any condition. BM

Condition: EXCELLENT.
