Scarce German Mauser G41(M) semi automatic/bolt action rifle. Mausers entry into the semi automatic rifle trials. It went on to serve side by side with Walther's version, the G.41(W). One of the less than 15,000 made 1941-1942, and one of even fewer to survive the war. Chamber marked "G.41(M)/1942". "Eagle/135" Waffenamts on the receiver and various other parts. "Eagle/WaA135" proofs on the stock as well. No import marks. Serial numbers are matching throughout with the exception of the nose cone and front sight block, which match each other (acts as a retainer for the nose cone). Original finish with some areas of light wear. Oil finished wood stock with cupped metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its original finish with light wear and handling marks. Wood has a few handling marks, dings and scratches. Bore is shiny with crisp rifling. Looks to be mechanically fine, although with the number of springs in this rifle, great care should be taken when/if the buyer intends to use it. A very nice example of a scarce rifle. JWA
