High condition FN-49 semi automatic rifle. Made in Belgium by FN on contract for Venezuela circa 1950s. No import mark found. Typical Belgian proofs on the left side of the chamber. Sharp Venezuelan crest on the top of the receiver. Matching serials on the receiver and top cover. Crisp cartouche on the right side of the stock. Standard black enamel finish on the metal components. Lightly finished oil stocks. Ribbed metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 98% of its original finish with a few scuffs. Wood is excellent with a only a few handling marks. Bore is shiny with crisp rifling. Action retains a fair amount of cosmoline. Mechanically fine. Likely unissued. The nicest Venezuelan contract FN-49 this cataloger has ever seen. JWA
