Built in 2018 in a classic and honorable hunting caliber by an Italian master gun and rifle maker. This handsome coin finished boxlock double rifle is built with 25 - 3/4" chopper lump, blued steel, side by side barrels. The barrels are fitted with ejectors, raised matted spear point quarter rib with 2-leaf gold line express rear sight marked for 50, 70, and 100 yards. The spearpoint ramps for the quarter rib and front sight are engraved in a muted leaf pattern, the underside of the rib at muzzle near wedge is engraved similarly. Front sight is a raised matted spearpoint island with white tip sight. The top of the quarter rib is engraved “.470 NITRO EXPRESS” in gold. The right barrel near breech is engraved “GARDONE VT ITALY” in gold. The left barrel near breech is engraved "GIULIO BERNARDELLI" in gold. Breech ends of barrels with thin gold wire band inlay. Bottom of right barrel engraved "REG FOR 500 GRN BULLET”. Both barrels stamped "CIP" over "N" near barrel flat. Barrel flat also stamped "CIP" "N" for proof and serial number “E006”. The coin finished reinforced boxlock action is fitted with double triggers with the front articulated, non-auto safe, long top strap over comb, foliate scroll engraving, engraved and checkered top lever, engraved and checkered safety slide with “SAFE” in gold. Right side of the trigger plate is signed by the engraver “F. BREGOLI 2018” while the left side is engraved “MADE IN ITALY”. The double triggers are protected by an engraved trigger guard that extends to a long bottom strap that ends at a lightly engraved steel cap box. The action flats Italian proof marks, “CIP / N”, serial number, and “470 N.E.”. The reddish-brown, well-figured European walnut stock is fit with a pistol handgrip with sharp checkering with lightly engraved steel cap box, shadow line cheekpiece, and an orange rubber pad with black spacer The beavertail forend has matching checkering with coin finish iron metal, escutcheon, and forend diamond that are foliate scroll engraved and with a checkered Anson-styled push-button release. Rifle travels in a GIULIO BERNARDELLI leather case with brass disk on top lid, outer canvas cover, maker’s paper trade label affixed to inner lid, three-piece wood cleaning rod, .470 snap caps, gun socks, and cleaning tools in a tan leather pouch. CONDITION: Barrels retain 98% of their original blue. Action is tight, ejectors are timed well, and triggers are crisp. Stock and forend with minor handling marks. Case good. Nice double rifle. CP
