Very nice MP-40 manufactured at the Steyr plant in Austria in 1942. Lower assembly is marked "MP40/ bnz.42" over the serial number. Steyr "WaA623" waffenamts are visible on the receiver, rear sight assembly, barrel nut, barrel, lower assembly, and bolt. Barrel is stamped with a Heer "H" stamp over the top, with the serial number on the left side. Magazine is marked "kur 42" above several "WaA815" waffenamts, indicating manufacture at Steyr, Warsaw. All matching numbers with the exception of the bolt assembly which does not match but is of Steyr manufacture. Lower assembly and grip panels are comprised of dark brown bakelite. Dark brown bakelite resting bar is present. Front lower bakelite assembly screw are not present. Complete with an unmarked correct vintage period leather sling. CONDITION: Metal components retain pleasant amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning all around that show through to grey patina. Protected areas on receiver retain bountiful amounts of their original blue finish. Bore is bright, showing some very light oxidation in the lands, and retains good rifling throughout. Bakelite furniture shows typical wear and handling marks from use, with more prominent areas of wear and some minor losses being present on the resting bar. Magazine shows wear to the finish and a few small spots of oxidation. A very attractive Heer marked Steyr World War II MP-40 submachine gun.
