Thompson Model 1928 AC manufactured by Auto Ordnance in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The left side of the receiver is stamped "MODEL 1928 AC", with the "U.S." model prefix being removed incidental to refurbishment with the original "1" in 1928A1 being overstamped with a "C". Left side is also marked "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/ CALIBRE .45 AUTOMATIC CARTRIDGE", with the right side bearing stamps stipulating the patent and manufacturer information. Hanging iron is marked "A.O.C.". Bolt assembly is in-the-white and is also stamped "A.O.C" on the rear. Trigger housing and receiver are matching, with the trigger housing serial number bearing an "A.O." prefix. "S" proof mark is present on the barrel, indicating manufacture by Savage. Metal components have been finely reparkerized, with arsenal stampings being easily legible. Features include paddle style safety and rocker levers, a 10" smooth barrel, Cutts compensator, blade front sight, Lyman rear aperture sight, as well as a walnut buttstock, pistol grip, and foregrip. This example is accompanied by one additional gray painted 30 round stick magazine marked "SW CO.". CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied parkerized finish upon refurbishment, exhibiting some scattered handling marks and areas of wear that show through to silvering. Cutts compensator retains fair amounts of its blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear all around that show through to patina. Bore is fair to good, showing oxidation and good rifling throughout. Bolt is clean, with the bolt face showing evidence of firing. Walnut furniture has been lightly cleaned and refinished and show some scattered handling and storage marks. Pistol grip exhibits a crack just below the trigger guard. Magazines show some wear and handling marks, but are otherwise fine. A very iconic and durable machine gun, that will make for a nice example to bring to the range. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. -MLW-
