Scarce Irwin Pedersen M1 Carbine semi automatic rifle. Made March 1943, with proper Underwood, "3-43" marked barrel. This looks to be one of the rifles in the serial block that was transferred to, and completed by Saginaw Gear, after the Irwin Pedersen contract was terminated. Flaming Bomb proof under the date. Correct unmarked barrel band with the sling swivel marked "UP". "N" marked front sight. Rear sight is unmarked. "SG" marked trigger group, bolt, slide, and stock lug. Stock is marked "IR-IP" on the inside of the of the sling cut out. Circle P firing proof on the bottom of the wrist. Faint boxed "SG" on the left side of the stock, next to a crossed cannons cartouche. Hand guard marked "RSG". Buttplate marked "IP-PM" on the left side. Standard blade front fight with 2 position flip rear. Original parkerized finish on the barrel and receiver. Oil finished walnut wood stock with standard checkered butt plate. "S.G." marked magazine. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its parkerized finish. The stock lug, safety button, and magazine button have been refinished. Wood has handling marks and scratches. There is a hairline crack behind the stock lug. There is a crack on the inside of the barrel channel as well. The band retaining spring looks to have some pitting around it. Clean bore with very good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. Magazine is excellent. JWA
