Colt 1921/28 Navy Thompson with Cutts compensator and “U.S. Navy” marking above model marking on left side of receiver as well as “8” overstamp. “JHB” inspection mark clearly visible on right side of receiver. Diamond logo Cutts compensator. Gun retains 1928 internal parts. Buttstock retains visible cartouche at leading edge. Accessories include one 50 round third model “L” drum with 1920 patent dates, and three 30 round “Seymour” stick magazines as well a reproduction black hard case. Although many Thompson machine guns were produced, especially during World War II, it is the Colt Thompson which is the most iconic of all American machine guns, and the ones with the Cutts compensator and vertical foregrip such are this one have the most recognized silhouette. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent deep lustrous original finish with some loss of finish to gray patina at the edges of the charging handle slot. 50 round drum has a matte finish with a slight dent at the 4 o’clock position of the cover. There is also some loss of finish at the stock attachment points, and some discernable scratches to the grip frame on the right side. Wood is extremely fine with some light handling marks. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. A very attractive and collectible example of the most popular and sought after of the Thompson machine gun models. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
