Circa 1987. A classic and world renowned caliber with 24" blacked steel barrels. Barrels have nicely been fitted with ejectors, matte quarter rib with standing sight marked at 100 yards and 2 folding sights at 200 and 300 yards (all with silver line), claw mounts for scope, and engraved dolls head extension. Front stippled ramp island blade sight with silver tip and flip up moon sight. Claw mounts are engraved with scroll. Right barrel reads "CALIBRE 375 BELTED MAGNUM". Left barrel reads "SIGHTED FOR 300 GRAIN BULLET". Rib reads "MANTON & CO.","CALCUTTA.". Bottom rib with eye for sling. Barrel flats stamped with London nitro proofs, "LP87", ".375" MAG", "2-85", 19 TONS". The sidelock action with gold line cocking indicators is also built with set disk strikers, screw grip, and dolls head lock up, blacked engraved top lever with checkered thumb piece, and is auto-safe with "SAFE" in gold. Action is also fit with right hand double triggers. Triggers are protected by a blacked scroll engraved right hand rolled edged trigger guard which extends to the rifle's bottom tang. Bottom tang is engraved with scrolls and rifle serial number "81007". Water table with serial number, English proof marks and reads "MADE IN ENGLAND". Dark grey patina action, lockplates, fences, and hardware with fine scroll and floral bouquets. "MANTON & CO." in gold and in ribbon. European walnut stock with sharp checkered pistol grip, shadow line cheekpiece, eye for sling, and dark brown leather covered pad. Pistol grip with blacked engraved steel grip cap. Matching splinter forend with engraved iron metal, blacked engraved escutcheon and checkered Anson styled forend release. Rifle is also nicely furnished with a Schmidt & Bender (Germany) 1.5-6x42 rifle scope. Rifle is housed in a dark brown leather case with green cloth interior and paper Manton trade label on interior of lid. Case is fitted with turn screws, dust brush, gold colored snap caps, gold colored round oil bottle and brass cleaning rod. CONDITION: Good. Barrels retain 80 percent of an English plumb brown colored finish. Action is tight. Ejectors are timed well and triggers are crisp. Forend very good. Case good. CP
