Manufactured by Auto Ordnance during World War II. The right side of the receiver is marked "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/ CALIBER .45 M1A1/ NO. 335988", with a U.S. flaming bomb ordnance stamp above "FK" followed by "R I A" further to the right, indicating arsenal refurbishment at Rock Island Arsenal supervised by Frank Krack. Left side of receiver also bears two "GEG" within a circle and a faint "FJA" inspectors proof by the chamber. "GEG" within a circle proof is also present on the bottom of lower assembly, beneath the buttstock. Right side of receiver bears typical manufacturer stampings, with the top bearing the Thompson Bullet logo. Features include a parkerized receiver that is fitted with a 10 - 1/2" blued smooth barrel, blade front sight, fixed rear sight, and non-detachable buttstock. Visible matching numbers include the receiver and the frame. This example is accompanied by one blued 20 round Bridgeport stick magazine. CONDITION: Receiver retains large amounts of it's arsenal reapplied parkerized finish, exhibiting edge wear that show through to silvering, as well as a few areas of cleaned oxidation. Barrel retains good amounts of it's reapplied blue finish, showing some areas of wear and thinning that show through to a gray patina, with the exception of the protected areas, which retain ample amounts of bluing. Bore is bright, retaining fair rifling throughout. Wood components are very good, as light sanded and refinished, exhibiting some scattered handling marks and impressions. A very attractive World War II production Thompson M1A1 machine gun for the discerning collector. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. -MLW-
